Things to Know
The United States presidential election is Tuesday, November 4,
2008. The nominees are John McCain, Republican, and Barack
Obama, Democrat. The individual elected into office will
serve as the 44th President of the United States.
The President lives and works in the White House in Washington,
DC. The sandstone building on Pennsylvania Avenue has 132 rooms.
Some are used as offices and meeting rooms and some are living
quarters for the President's family.
To help learn more about the Presidents and the terms they
served, you can collect the new Presidential $1 Coins. The program honors our Nation's
Presidents by
issuing $1 circulating coins featuring their images in the order
they served, beginning with Presidents George Washington, John
Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison. Presidents James
Monroe, John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson, and Martin Van Buren
will be issued in 2008.
